Skyrim With Mods Looks Better Than The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

“Skyrim with mods looks better” is what a lot of people are saying towards The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, said after commenting how disappointed they are after watching recent gameplay footage that was released from select Youtubers who managed to play the game on PC, and I honestly think that statement and/or the way of viewing the situation is stupid.

It’s not the first time people are saying similar statements for a game, but it certainly won’t be the last to call it idiotic. The reason why I say it’s idiotic is because of course it would look better in some or most cases, comparing a stock product to another one that’s been modified by consumers who want to make it as great as it can be, but if you compare a non-modified old game to a new game that’s graphically superior, then it is graphically better and that’s fact.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is graphically superior than CS: Source, Grand Theft Auto V is more graphically impressive than GTA IV, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (looking at recent gameplay videos) looks more graphically powerful than Skyrim.

Install an impressive graphics mod to CS: Source, then it would most likely look better than the default look of CS: GO, same with the other games above. But stop and think for a second, if you want to say “Skyrim with mods looks better” then here’s my reply: Witcher 3 with mods would probably look even better than that.

You see where I’m going with this? There’s no good point in saying X with mods looks better than Y, that’s just admitting that the game you like or admire doesn’t look as good as the game you’re having a disappointment over its visuals.

But that’s how I see this whole scenario, and if your opinion is different than mine and you see fault in it, then I’d love to read what you’d have to say about it. I’m probably the idiot one here.

In their dreams may be. Skyrim engine was outdated before the game release and fancy modes just can’t fix it (and introduce a lot of lags with my 780 ti). Some things may get better, but overall it is still old and not that good even in that times standards game.
I can’t believe people seriously think skyrim is able to compete. TW3 is far more advanced and its visuals are stunning.

Except the point is valid. Skyrim looks great today, almost 4 years after release, because of its vibrant modding community. Witcher 3 will never reach those dizzying heights on the modding front. The point is that modders can make an older game look comparable to, even better than, Witcher 3. It’s empowering the skill of the people who make that happen, not Skyrim itself…

this is where you are wrong look how many copys sold already of witcher 3 and we are only a month further hell even mods going in already and mod kit aint released yet so be honest skyrim never look better there are graphical mods for witcher 3 already to so whats your valid point skyrim is an easy fast made engine hell not even a stand alone engine same engine as oblivion
so whats valid about this post learn about game desighn and witcher already reached the dizzying height cause there are mods coming and coming when the mod kit yet to be released skyrim was already dieing look now you think many people still playing skyrim its like playing pacman the only reason people played skyrim was cause mods not cause game itself skyrim itself lacked so many people modded it right away

to be honest skyrim is just more “free”. I have no intentions of downloading mods for looks but for new things to do. im not a console gamer because i don’t play vanilla games. Even after i beat skyrims story i put like 10 mods in with their own separate stories, i have mods to let me eat shrooms, smoke pot, guns, flying on dragons, ass tons of new spells, castles become emperor of my own kingdom. TW3 might be better in a lot of ways but if i cant get the freedom i have in skyrim tw3 will have no replay value for me. I can stop playing skyrim for months and come back and modders have created basically entirely new story lines with quests and monsters, weapons, armor.

Well the Skyrim story is pretty short and not even engaging…Yes the game is more free but ultimately you are just hacking and slashing away at spiders in caves or the same forts filled with bandits.

The Witcher 3 graphics engine appears to be an update of the engine used for Drakensang in 2008, which was open source. The gameplay is identical. The towns look the same and one area of the main town in W3 has the same street layout as DS -The Dark Eye.. The DS games were PC only, whereas Skyrim was PC and consoles.
